A Convergence Of Evil
A Mad Man O’ Jihad, Iran’s president, is out to unite a key group of Persian Gulf nations, telling the U.S.-allied Arab countries on Monday that they should form a regional security pact free of “foreign influence.”
“The Sunni Muslim-led states of Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates all work closely with the U.S. military and are unlikely to accept Persian, Shiite Iran in America’s place.” However, he was escorted along the red carpet by King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia and they were holding hands.
In his speech he said that “The Islamic Republic of Iran is prepared to make its expertise and knowledge available to regional states,” and afterward the leaders withdrew for closed-door meetings.
By “expertise and knowledge” he’s undoubtedly offering nuclear and missile technology, which must be a big temptation. He and the Saudi king, hand-in-hand, are indeed an Odd Couple, considering the enmity between Shiites and Sunnis and the desire of both nations to dominate Middle East politics, as Saudi Arabia has done for many years now. King Abdullah has no desire to be pushed out of dominance by Iran’s growing influence.
My take on this hand-holding business is that it’s a concession to the reality of Iran’s strength but placing Iran in second place to Saudi Arabia. Ahmadinejad is on King Abdullah’s LEFT, a position of even greater significance with Arabs than in the West.
With Arabs it’s always a game of cat and mouse, lies, promises and deceptions, feint and counterpoise, and nothing is ever simple and straightforward. It should be borne in mind that all the Mid-East nations have historic affiliations with Iran, and secret deals between them all should be expected out of this Gulf Cooperation Council session.
For the West, cooperation between Islamic states is never a good thing.

I heard something on the news this morning, that Iran had STOPPED their production of nuclear weapons in 2003. WHAT? Ok, so we take their word, and everything is hunky dorey???
