Americas Hidden Agenda

AUSTRALIA’S defence minister during the Vietnam War
and its prime minister when a flood of boat people arrived, Malcolm Fraser says the Vietnam experience left him convinced that no Australian government should ever again commit troops to a major war as an ally of the United States unless it could place a senior minister in Washington to closely examine US policy and strategy.

Regarding the “Surge” and ongoing Iraq war, “The president is not going to change; he’s going to insist on staying the course,” said retired General John Johns, a counterinsurgency specialist. “What is required is that the Republican leadership in Congress force the president [to change course]. I do not see that in the works today, and I don’t understand why.”

And we should all wonder about that. Exactly what do these insiders know that the American public is not being told?

A comment by Jordon here that there seems to be a “hidden agenda” struck a chord with me, as there clearly are a lot of hidden agendas among all the players involved between us and the Mid-East, and they all intertwine.

Let’s take some known facts to start with. Western oil interests want control of Iraqs oil, while Mid-Eastern oil interests want to push out the Western interests. Thus the war. This is why so many Iranian (oil rich) and Saudi Arabian (oil rich) combatants are in Iraq. There’s no other real reason for those countries to send them there.

Another fact is that failure in Iraq is political disaster for the Republican party. Add to this that they’re just as individually self-centered and disorganized as the Democrats and the result is a lack of clear direction.

Throw into this mix the efforts of the Islamists to corrupt our laws, mislead our politicians and disrupt our courts, as well as buy out our key defense industries. Now stir in the Chinese with their buying up of massive amounts of our international debt while selling us shoddy and poisonous goods and building a vast and rapidly expanding military with the profits, and allying with Russia, while Russia renews the Cold War and is emerging once again as a military power as well as brand new oil and natural gas megastar that is openly supporting our enemies.

Anyone confused yet?

I think the answer to Jordons question is that most of the people in Washington D.C. have no more clue than we do of the overall international picture.

That’s the “hidden agenda” that they dare not tell us, and that’s why we’re seeing these increasingly obvious gaps in the picture. The “hidden agenda” is simply that the politicians are doing what their respective corporate bosses tell them to do instead of the jobs we hired them for, they are otherwise both uninterested in fixing things and mostly helpless to do so anyway and they sure don’t want to spread that truth around.

During the Vietnam War that Bush is now rewriting the history of and that another Republican president, Dick Nixon, called the Vietnam “Era”, we were much more heavily committed militarily than we are now in Iraq, and we lost that one the same way we’re losing this one. Why? Because that war was being waged by the corporations the same as this one is. 50,000 dead U.S. soldiers, countless dead Vietnamese and Cambodians, so we could bomb bridges and then rebuild them, over and over. So we could make fortunes for construction companies, one of which was owned by Democrat Pres. Lyndon Johnsons wife. Both parties share the guilt. Johnson, in fact, was the one responsible for dramatically escalating that war and making lots of money for the Mrs. over millions of dead bodies.

The hidden agenda? Follow the money. America has always have been about Big Business. Profit is the reason this country was settled, profit is why we broke away from England and Capitalism is the reason we have become such a successful global power. Capitalism has been made a dirty word by all the whining third-worlders who tried and failed to follow our example, to the point now that our government no longer is forthright about our reasons for our behavior on the international scene. Instead they all claim patriotism, first so as not to offend but now out of habit.

America and the dollar are inseparable more than any other nation. America is about money. Profit is patriotic.

Exactly, Jordon. There it is there. Nice find.

Ok, there’s just a hint of conspiracy theory here, but we’ve tried to define that before and it’s in the eye of the beholder. I don’t argue with you that money is the motive behind much of what goes on behind closed doors. And there IS a lot going on behind closed doors that the public doesn’t know about. Look for my upcoming article on Iraq.

Businesses are behind the politicians, who ultimately make the deals. It’s a very seedy and ugly situation. But even so, the US is still the best nation in the world and I wouldn’t want to change with anybody else.

    What interests me today…

The following are items I ran across while surfing the web this morning. The are all important to me, but I’m not going to do a separate post on each one. I can’t improve on what’s already been said. Enjoy:…

Debbie, you lost me there. I don’t see any conspiracy hint, all I see is an utter lack of concerned action by our worthless politicians on behalf of us Americans. That’s not a conspiracy, that’s just plain selfish, lazy indifference.

The best nation in the world depends on that eye of the beholder you just mentioned. I expect muslims see England as the best. I can assure you that the British still see England as the best, as well. Dedicated Wahhabists no doubt see Saudi Arabia as the best. And so on.

I can tell you that the America I loved 50 years ago is a very far cry from the country I live in today, and I don’t like the changes a damn bit. There’s a whole lot less to love than there used to be.
