Now It Begins? Updated.
It looks like Earthtimes.org is still the only outfit paying close attention to the ongoing preparations for the combined Iranian-Turkish assault on Kurdestan. “Iranian troops are reportedly massing along the northeastern stretch of the Iran-Iraq border near Iraq’s autonomous Kurdish region, sources in Hajj Omran town in the northern Arbil province said Sunday. The unnamed Kurdish source said Iranian forces looked about to launch a large-scale offensive targeting members of the Kurdish workers’ party and the Party for Freedom and Life known as PJAK.”
So far, only one obscure reporting agency, Earthtimes.org, has reported in on these sudden attacks by Iran and Turkey on Kurdish Iraq.
“Iranian and Turkish forces on Thursday shelled two northern Iraqi border cities in the Kurdish autonomous region. Targeted in the attack were the bases of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) which has been fighting the Turkish government and the Party for Freedom and Life in Kurdistan (PJAK) from Iran. They have? Since when?
“Kurdish villages in the northern province of Arbil were bombed in the morning by Turkish forces, starting fires on agricultural lands and houses in two villages, an official source from the Kurdish Pershmerga said, without providing details of casualties.”
“Similarly, an intense Iranian strike in the province of Sulaimaniya caused terror among residents of a number of villages as well as significant property damage, local officials said.”
Didn’t I say that Turkey and Iran were cosy? They’re coordinating their military. Think of that! Is this the start of an escalating attack? Watch and see. The big factor in this is that Iran is openly attacking inside Iraq for the first time since our invasion, something Bush and crew had to have clearly seen coming and included in their plans.
I don’t expect Iran or Turkey to back off from their attacks, I expect them to escalate, and the American public likely won’t hear a word of it until Kurdish pleas for help squeak out here and there in the media. Then the Iranian incursions that we’d turned a blind eye to just might be used as one more excuse to go after them militarily. In the meantime, Turkey will continue to decimate the Kurds and occupy Kurdestan “as our allies”.
At least, that’s how the script looks to me so far, and so far, none of the other players has stuck to the scripts our military minds keep writing. Muslims don’t seem to work well with infidels.
The curtain has risen on Act II: “Pandemonium”
