What’s Wrong With This Picture?

The Koran finds a home

For starters, Stanislav Smulevich, a 23-year-old Brooklyn man of Ukrainian descent, was arrested last week on hate crime charges for stealing two Korans, throwing them in toilets and crapping on one of them at Pace University. Rather than being charged with theft, he’s charged with criminal mischief under NY’s hate crime laws. The Korans he stole were Pace University property and the University pushed for him to be tried under hate crime (read Thought Crime) laws. Therefor he should be charged with theft and misdemeanor mischief only since what he did was an expression of free speech. Same as the so-called “artist”, Andres Serrano, who took a picture of a plastic crucifix in a jar of piss, called the photo “Piss Christ”, and won recognition and fame.

Hey. I hate Islam. I really do. It’s evil and I hate evil. Does that make me a thought-criminal? Am I committing thought-crime for saying what I think? So far no, but things can change.

Violent crimes against homosexuals was the original cause of hate-crime legislation, which expanded to include religious, racial and ethnic bias. Hate crimes vary from state to state, which is why in some states Smulevich wouldn’t be prosecuted under them. No violence.

Now our Senate is considering the passage of a Federal Hate Crimes bill that seeks to make it a federal crime for pastors to express the biblical view of homosexuality as being a sin. This is the immediate concern of Christian leaders but not an immediate concern of mine.

I don’t hang out with homosexuals because I’m not one and don’t care for the lifestyle. Nor do I hang out with preachers or stockbrokers or sewer workers. I don’t care how they live among themselves as long as they don’t track it into my home. My concern here is that the passage of this bill would be a massive attack on our Constitutional Right to Freedom of Speech.

The bill is aimed at protecting a special interest group, homosexuals, and makes a violent crime against a homosexual punishable by an additional 10 years in prison. What makes homosexuals more deserving of legal protection than preachers or marijuana smokers or homeless people, I have no clue, yet they get attacked for their lifestyles too.

If we enact this severe law that deeply impinges on our Freedom of Speech, more and worse will inevitably follow such a Liberal Left success. Open hate speech against homosexuals can now be prosecuted in some states. How long before open hate speech against muslims can be prosecuted? No doubt in some states this is already the case, though I have no info on this at present. It doesn’t have to result in violence to be prosecuted. Look at Stanislav Smulevich, being prosecuted in New York for a hate crime with no violence because of his hatred of Islam.

And that’s not the only bill for homosexuals that the Democrats are wanting to rip away at our rights with.
“The gay- and transgender-inclusive hate crimes bill will remain stalled in the Senate until at least September and could remain in limbo until October or later, Capitol Hill sources familiar with the legislation said.
In a related development, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) indicated this week she expects to bring another key gay rights bill, the Employment Non-Discrimination Act, or ENDA, to the House floor for a vote in September.
ENDA would ban employment discrimination based on a person’s sexual orientation and gender identity.”

Which means that if you refuse to hire a flaming queen in brilliant drag to sell mens suits, you can be not only sued, but prosecuted for a crime! So, what happens if you refuse to hire a muslim in your Christian store to sell religious items because he says touching Bibles is against his religion, or because he wants to lay a prayer rug at the entrance and block the doorway 5 times a day to pray? Will you be prosecuted?

Is that next? You better believe it is.

Oh. And the other thing that’s wrong with the above picture: No crap on the Koran.

Seems we get the same idiocy on both sides of the Atlantic. All in favour of stopping genuine hate crime, i.e something likely to stir up violence against a group, deny them jobs etc. but why the hell should anyone not simply express their disagreement with a lifestyle or belief?

Surely there are rights on both sides? If you run a small guest house in your own home say surely you should have some right over who you have in it? There should always be suitable exemptions at the lowest level.

PS It’s already got plenty in it.

“What’s Wrong With This Picture?” Only the fact I did not meet it. No more. Now, this image is added to my anti-Islam dossier-blog n°1 : INFERNO (HELL). Thanks, Rasta, for this find!

Ernesto, it’s my pleasure. It came from http://www.411mania.com/politics/columns/57890/Story-Time-with-E:-Flushing-The-Quran?–Thats-a-Hate-Crime-in-New-York.htm and that link is repeated in my post. It’s the first link.

Hate crimes will never be right, they will never be fair, and I don’t think we should have them. Let “crime be crime”, use the laws on the books. As you have pointed out, where is the end? Once you start down this road, even if it was started for gays, there is no end. If a gay person gets beat up, then charge the guilty with the appropriate law, already on the books. This going after ‘people’s thoughts and motives’ has no place in US courts. If you kill someone, it doesn’t matter what your ‘thoughts’ were, you are still guilty of murder.
