This is a statement issued by one of the head Shia Muckies of Iran about an apparent Sunni decree to destroy Shia mausoleums. Bear in mind while reading this that this Ayatollah makes false statements. He dumps all the Islamic terrorism going on on the Saudis, while ignoring Irans own activities, Hezbollah, the Palestinians and so on, and claims that Islam is sooo peaceful otherwise. For reference, the Iranians are Shiites, the Saudis are Sunnis under a sub-sect called Wahhabi, or “Wahhai” in the statement below.

This statement, while filled with untruths and self-serving rhetoric, is still the most outspoken expression of discord yet between the Iranians and the Saudi regime. I’m reprinting it here as it openly alludes to Saudi Arabia as a terrorist training ground. There’s real friction between Shiites and Sunnis, and the massive buildup of the Saudi military machine is entirely due to the buildup of Irans. If the Mid-East does erupt, these two are guaranteed combatants.

Grand Ayatollah Lotfollah Safi Golpayegani, one of Shi’a sources of jurisprudence in Holy Qom, here Monday strongly denounced decree issued by some Saudi Mufties to destroy Shi’a holy sites.

In a communique issued by Ayatollah Golpayegani’s Office, a copy of which was delivered to IRNA Bureau in Qom, we read, “Saudi Arabi has unfortunately been turned into a school for nurturing terrorism and supporting the terrorist, promoting an unauthentic version of Islam, and this recent verdict issued by Saudi terrorism worshiper Mufties is strongly denounced.

Ayatollah Safi Golpayegani has in the communique reiterated, “The alert Muslims of the world, prominent Islamic World Alims, scientific and university societies, elites, and statesmen of the important Islamic countries should know that the dark minded, deviated Wahhai sect has today after a whole century of hatching anti-Islamic plots, got weaker than ever before, and more ill-famed in the eyed of the world Muslims, which is the reason why it has begum killing, massacring, destroying, and committing all types of other corrupt behaviors.”
He adds, “The brutal acts committed by this corrupt clan has led to the creation of a very negative image of Islam and the world Muslims in the eyes of the world nations, horrifying and intimidating the innocent human beings, while the dear Islam is the religion of peace, brotherhood, and all-encompassing love of God for His entire creatures.”
The Grand Ayatollah stresses, “This gang of the few that is most unfortunately in charge of Islam’s two holiest shrines today, has turned those sacred places to the cradle for terrorism, exporting terrorists to Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and lately also to other countries, such as Lebanon, Algeria, and wherever they can, in a bid to flicker the flames of sectarian and civil wars here and there.

He reiterated, “In fact this small sect is seriously threatening the world peace and security today.”

“while the dear Islam is the religion of peace, brotherhood, and all-encompassing love of God for His entire creatures.” Ah yes. The dear Islam, as told to us by an imam who is himself a promoter of fundamentalist Islamic Sharia law that would have all us “loved creatures” forced to become muslims or be put to death. Spare me from “dear Islam”!

Since this statement was released in typo-ridden English instead of the usual Arabic, it clearly is intended for Western consumption as well as Saudi, and is an obvious attempt at disassociating Iran from global terrorism. They’re going to have to do better than that, though, and a good start would be to get the Hell out of Iraq and Lebanon, stop training bomb makers and stop funding Hamas.
