Cheap Opium For The Masses
Well, good news, back-monkey owners. Opium production in Afghanistan increased 49% in one year, from 4,100 metric tons in 2005 to 6,100 metric tons in 2006, according to the 2007 World Drug Report released this week.
Afghanistan’s insurgency-hit Helmand province was becoming the world’s biggest drug supplier, with illicit cultivation there larger than in the rest of the country put together. Afghanistan could see a further increase in opium production in 2007.
This means that for all you junkies out there, the price should be coming down, and for all you youngsters, “cheese” prices should be getting down to your level of affordability. Now drug dealers can start targeting you. Isn’t that swell? And to whom do we owe this wonderful improvement in the lives of all of us, all around the world? Why, to those running the war in Afghanistan, of course. Who else?
We went to war in Afghanistan to get Osama Bin Laden and his Taliban. It didn’t take long before all the emphasis shifted to Iraq and Afghanistan was largely forgotten. Now we’re propping up the government of the worlds largest manufacturer of opium and doing very little to restore the rule of law. Either we can’t finish the job there, which may be the truth, or we simply won’t, but either way we should at least wipe out the opium production permanently by either making it too costly in terms of life to farm poppies or by subsidizing the growing of food crops, or both. The poppy farmers don’t make nearly as much from this endeavor as the traffickers do and it wouldn’t be that costly to subsidise food crops so the farmers come out about the same.
Under the auspices of The Bush Gang, and with their fond approval and assistance, global opium production has reached record heights, with over 92% of it coming from Afghanistan. The Taliban middle-mans the crop to support their efforts. How’s that for promoting terrorism? Who needs Osama? We’ve got Bush!

Maybe the western gov’ts could purchase the crop legally, and use it for legitimate mfg of pain management drugs.
Legalise the problem, take out the criminal elements.
Probably still criminal coercion somewhere along the line though.

This doesn’t mean anything to me, never took any kind of drugs. I don’t even like to take what the doctor prescribes. I’ve got bottles here of Oxycodone (Percocet) given by the surgeon. I don’t take it. Makes me feel goofy.

Umm, are you sure you read the whole post, Debbie? This is about the scourge of heroin ramping up because of Bush’s handling of the war, this isn’t a paean to the glory of drugs.

I did read it and I can’t argue with you. The facts don’t lie. It is a real shame. Bush has made some really bad decisions and I can’t defend him.

I don’t think we can single out Bush who is continuing a cabal set up long before his administration and which is participated in equally by Democrats as well as Republicans (only the leader classes of course).
These are fueled by malignant supercorporate and financial interests who are willing to use the prestige of our nation for the exploiting of nations by imperialist means which we would normally have ascribed only to communists.
They subject citizens of America and the West to social engineering and leftist controls and their media controls information and public awareness and reaction.
We have lost all control of our political process (Do we think immigration will cease just because the bill was defeated?). We must clean house – even if it is painful to do so, and it must begin with MEDIA which is the key to control, just as it is the key to freedom.
