The War Plan
I don’t really care for the term “neocon” – new conservative – as there really isn’t anything new about people in power who want to reshape the political planet. Reshaping in the form of regime change is what neocons, including the Bush administration, are all about, ultimately. And of course, if some crony corporations like Halliburton and Texas oil interests can be further enriched in the process, hey, why not, right?
So here we are in Iraq and the old regime has been changed in spades. Unfortunately the new regime isn’t playing along as anticipated due to overconfidence and underplanning. The obvious move now would be to back off some and let the natives work out their aggressions on each other while dropping the occasional blockbuster bomb on the people we don’t like the most. Gradual disengagement. But that’s not what’s happening. Instead another 20,000 troops are going to charge into the thick of it. At the same time, we have conducted our first Baghdad “saturation” raid, as noted in my previous post, and are banging away in Somalia as well.
Additionally, there are plenty of reports of Saudi Arabia siding with the US against Iran and the Israelis openly discussing a likely need to attack Iran.
The original “neocon” war plan was pretty apparent from the start. Regime change in Iran, Iraq, Syria and North Korea. Now that GWB is up against the Congressional wall, I do believe he’s finally going to stop screwing around and go for it. North Korea is a poor bet, but Iraq, Iran and Syria can be done. The Saudis would love to see it and are sure to jump in and help, as they’re very much threatened by Iran and they have a fairly formidable air force.
One major and necessary goal will be to destroy Irans nuclear labs and it may well take a type of bunker-buster nuke developed in the US around 1965 or so to do the job. Listen for spin on this, they’ll start telling us how these weapons are “tactical and needed to promote peace, national security, blah blah.” Nuclear war is nuclear war, though and when you start hearing this stuff, be sure your country cousins have their pantries well stocked, because it means they’re gonna do it.
I think Bush will implement the original plan as closely as he can now that Congress has turned against him. All the signs are there. The irony of this is that he’s been hedging on this for so long that now it’s his regime that’s changing.

I hope you are right about Bush, ‘finally going to stop screwing around and go for it.’ It not now then it will be never. Of course it should have been a few years ago. This think should never have been allowed to drag, and I do mean drag, on like it has.
