There Goes Lebanon…
Huge crowds of hundreds of thousands of people, reportedly nearly a million, are on the streets of Beirut, organized by Hezbollah in an attempt to take over the government of Lebanon. Armed police earlier sealed off the offices of Prime Minister Fouad Siniora with barbed wire and barricades.
PM Siniora is the same person who was backing Hezbollah against the Israelis during the 33 day war there recently, even though it was Hezbollah who deliberately provoked the war and were bringing destruction to the towns and cities of Lebanon. He refused to deploy the army against the Hezbollah forces.
Well, he is now, because now they’ve come after him! This cowardly man has sold out his country in the hope of currying favor with Syria and Iran, just so he could stay in power. I won’t be surprised if he ends up losing his life to Hezbollah. What a fool!
His fate is unimportant. What matters here is that for decades, Lebanon has been a platform for terrorist forays and rocket attacks into Israel, but never a major threat. Now, because Bush and the UN interfered and prevented the Israelis from finishing the job, Israel will be facing another large, determined army added to the others. The Israelis can thank Olmert as well for this, since he failed to take the needed aggressive stand that he should have. Instead he tried to appease and is still trying to appease.
It seems that almost daily now, the stage for attacking Israel by Iran and Syria gets another prop, another piece of scenery. The Israeli generals surely must be considering preemptive strikes. The question is whether they’ll be allowed to implement their plans.

Today there are reports of large numbers of trucks carrying munitions into Lebanon for Hezbolla from Syria. Why doesn’t someone blow them up? Oh right, Israel can’t fly their jets over Lebanon because the French will shoot them down.
