Forget The Bra, Ban The Burka!
This is hardly the most earth-shaking of the news that’s out there today but it is a juicy little bit that I couldn’t pass up: Holland to ban burqa as ‘terror threat’. Holland will soon be the first country in Europe to ban the burqa and will introduce legislation outlawing the head-to-toe Islamic garment “within days”.
Declaring that it posed a “terrorist threat” because it prevented the wearers’ face being identified, the ban will likely extend to all face-covering veils and prevent anyone “appearing in public with covered facial features”.
“Rita Verdonk, the hard-line immigration minister known as “Iron Rita”, has made no secret of her dislike of the garment, which she believes “aids and abets the repression of women”.
Calling it “a danger to the country’s security” yesterday, she said it was undesirable “for reasons of public order, security and protection of citizens”.
“People should be recognisable and, from the standpoint of integration, we think people should be able to communicate with one another”.”
The muslims are tweaked over this, of course, even though they claim only 100 women (or only 30 depending on the muslim yelling at the moment) wear the burka in all Holland. Holland has about 1 million Slaves of Islam muslims so assuming 500,000 muslim women, now is definitely the time to act, before they all start wearing it. You know they will, all it takes is for them to think they can get away with something and there they go.
The Dutch have been looking hard at muslims in their country ever since Theodore Van Goghs murder by Mohammed Bouyeri, muslim asylum-seeker scum. They recently discovered that Imam Fawaz of the as-Sunnah mosque in The Hague gave a sermon condemning Theo van Gogh just a few weeks before his murder. A recording of the sermon exists and in it the imam is heard uttering a curse against the Dutch director for his film SUBMISSION, which is critical of Islam.
Now France and England are watching the Dutch Burka Law with an eye to something similar. It’s little things like this that give me the optimism that the Eurabia doomsayers are wrong.
UPDATE: The Islamic community says that only about 50 (how many, now?) women in the country wear the full head-to-toe covering that also obscures the face, and that outlawing the dress would only make the country’s one million Muslims feel more victimised and alienated. Oh, you mean those poor victimised muslims, the same ones who rape the Dutch women and threaten and murder and attack the government? Those muslims?
Second update… If anyone is in doubt about what the muslims have in mind for Christians and Westerners, and has a strong stomach, click on this link. Debbie at Right Truth posted this in Comments below, but it deserves more prominence. Don’t look if you’ve just eaten.

This is very good news. I think the U.S. should pass a law like this before it even starts to become a problem. Not just the Burqua, but the vail, hijab, everything. It will never happen.

Questions from an average guy…
I posted some questions in my previous post. They are not the only ones I have. Here are a few more.1. Why do despots like Ahmadinejad, Assad, Chavez et al, get a bully pulpit in the UN?2. Why do the above get any kind of voice in the rest of th…

Here’s Islam……
There is no comparing Islam to any other religion. Do the Christians, or Jews, or Hindus, or Bahi, or any other religion force you to convert? Force you to live under their rules? Torture or kill you if you don’t…

The veil is a fairly trivial issue and I would prefer European governments to tackle more serious ones, defending our own values like free speech more robustly for example. Of all those “behead” protesters in London I think only one has been prosecuted. Still, anything that makes some of them feel unwelcome and causes them to bugger off is ok by me.

The veil is an inroad, that’s what makes it important. The average citizens can’t go around wearing balaclavas or masks into places of business without arousing a lot of suspicion and inviting questions from the police, so why should muslims, especially when you never know if it really is a woman under there.

The veil is indeed an inroad, one concession won makes it easier for the next. The most vociferous veil wearers in Britain have been born here, well educated like the lawyer who insisted on wearing it in court, and the classroom manager. Since there is no koranic instruction for the veil I assume it is a political statement, nothing more.
Islam is carrying a lot more clout in Britain than any political party.
