London Mega-Mosque? Maybe Not.
“Plans to build Britain’s first mega-mosque in east London have been thrown into doubt amid opposition from local Muslims and news that the radical group behind the project has fallen foul of planning laws.”
This monster was supposed to hold between 40,000 to 70,000 people, and was being financed by Tablighi Jamaat, an evangelical Islamic group which each year sends hundreds of young British Muslims to fundamentalist religious schools in Pakistan to be radicalized.
“The proposal, which would create the largest religious building in Britain, has led to a unique coalition of local Muslims and fundamentalist Christians who accuse Tablighi Jamaat of being a radical organisation. They say that two of the 7/7 bombers, Mohammed Siddique Khan and Shehzad Tanweer, attended Tablighi Jamaat mosques. Counter-terrorism sources say it is more likely that radicalised young Muslims are attracted to Tablighi Jamaat than the other way round. So far, 2,500 Muslims living near the mosque site have signed a petition against the plan. Asif Shakoor, chairman of the Sunni Friends of Newham, said: ‘It is radicalising the younger generation. We have to make a stand.’
Tablighi Jamaat now faces further problems. Currently temporary buildings serve as a mosque on the site. Planning permission for the temporary mosque expired last Tuesday, the day Tablighi Jamaat had pledged to submit plans for the new mosque. A spokeswoman for Newham council confirmed the organisation had breached planning laws.”
This is very good news for the British people. For 2500 muslims to stand up against this is a huge plus. Muslims are led by their imams, so a lot of imams must have spoken up about this. Previous posts, France leading the way? and It is about religion, pointed out that many muslims are leaving Islam after experiencing Western values. This, more than than anything else, may be driving the imams to back away from Islamic aggression. There’s nothing quite like losing your power base to upset imams.
There is a flip side to this: The imams may be opposing the mosque because it would put them out of their jobs. There’s no guarantee that they’re not teaching “radicalization” themselves to create their own little armies.
If there’s one thing muslims do well, it’s to fight among themselves.

Something that gets me about christian and muslim groups working together, or christian leaders who cosy up with islam is that the bible warns that after jesus there will be many false prophets.
So maybe its time all christian faiths worldwide made a declaration as to whether or not Muhammed was a false prophet.
It would help clear up some confusion over their friendly stance!

salamz.. islam is a religion of peace.. its not entitled with terrorism.. if it was entitled with terrorism.. all the countries whre muslims living will hv very bad problems. islam is the greatest religion and there is no god than allah .
building mosque is ok bcoz it is a pplace where muslims worship.. the country is united and every should hv there freedom to do it..

As a former muslim who has come to Christ, we suffer persecution by our own community and the police turns a blind eye to it. Many muslims in the uk are coming to the Lord with persecution, Islam is in decline and growing by birth rates only

there is no need to build something like this..theyre are literally more than enough mosques for muslims to pray in,and i find it rather offensive that something that cost so much can be built thats strictly muslim we dont go to islamic countrys and build giant churches

England is a christian country not a muslim one i do not want people coming here for the olympics to think otherwise how dare the british government even consider this proposal there are already far to many mosques in britain as it is they may as well open up the borders and ask bin laden to tea with the queen. We are far to tolerant to muslims in this country they need to remember they are in our country not the other way round would iran or saudi let us build a huge christian church over there bigger than there mosques of course they wouldn’t if they want a huge mosque then move to a muslim country. It is things like this that lead people to join the BNP.

I don’t have anything against Islam, nor the building of mosques, even though I often think the insistence sometimes on Arabic architecture clashes horribly with Western architecture. But building a mosque to be one of the most dominant buildings in London, bigger than any of the cathedrals or minsters in the UK, is neither representative of the current Christian and secular majorities that make up our country, nor the history of this island. Islam can go on being Islam and believing what it wants, and Muslims can go on worshipping in their own buildings, but the ‘mega-mosque’ would be an insult to the rest of the nation.

Why are people so ‘offended’?? How can you say there are far too many mosques in Britain?? Has it occured to you that due to Islam being the fatsest growing religion in the world there are more and more mosques needed? There wouldnt be much point in building a mega-church now, would there? It would just sit there empty (like most churches in the UK) as most British people just arent interested in Christianity anymore.

You have your facts wrong. Islam is actually not the fastest growing religion in the world, Christianity is. Islam is the fastest declining religion in the world. Muslims all over are leaving it for Christianity rather than be caught up in the wave of fundamentalism and Sharia law that threatens the Westernized way of life they’ve come to love and enjoy.
While a lot of muslims say they would prefer to live under Sharia law in the UK, the truth is that they’re scared NOT to say it. The fact is that three times as many muslims convert to Christianity as the other way around.
The only real increase in Islam is in third world countries, because of the birth rate. Everywhere else, Islam is declining.
Muslims build mosques everywhere they can because, according to the koran, anyplace where a mosque has ever been becomes muslim territory forever. The more mosques, the more they take over a country, in their own minds.
People are offended because the UK is Christian and the mega-mosque is deliberately designed to dominate the area, and you obviously, somehow, have never gotten the clue that Islam seeks to dominate everyone and everything and either kill them or make them submit. That’s offensive.
I see by your email name that you’re a female muslim. I suppose married to a Brit, hence the last name. This explains your predjudice.

This is surely some kind of joke, this is England as the saying goes ‘When in Rome do as the romans do’ why can’t anyone who is coming to this country for help live and support England? Im not religious but accept that the English religion is a Christian one, (i moved here from greece) so why can’t every one else, Muslims now want to follow their own laws and build there own mega mosques in our capital in return for what? All the churches they have built in the middle east for holiday makers? Our maybe its because they have built other places of worship like synagogues, i read a new report not long ago there was a man in turkey who opened up a book store and was selling the bible, he got killed within a month of doing so, i probably wouldn’t mind all this but religion is meant to be peaceful a time of worship, its there to help u lead a better life but some Muslims don’t see that, they openly say that 7/7 and 9/11 are justified and openly demonstrate against the ‘western’ world all this in england may i add, i find it insulting and hypocritical, if people don’t like England why come here?
I am not a racist and i understand not all people are like that, ive seen interviews with British born Muslims who are also against it and can see the damage it would do, people are becoming more acceptable to ‘new’ things religion,sexuality etc (going back 50 years none of this would be happening) so when a religion comes in that openly hates people who don’t follow and suggest killing them it rocks the boat and to make matters worse Islamic countries dont take to other religions so why should Christian countries take to Islam? And not only Christian countries there are other religions out there!
As for Abdul telling us all its ok it’s not, this country is not united and won’t be until clerics (like mr hook)stop coming over here and openly (as in the centre of london) demonstrate against the very country they live in, are Muslim people unaware of all this or do they think its acceptable behavior? How can people make/request things like this when as Phil said Christians can’t even wear a cross in the country

seriously do you guys read what you are writing. “im not racist..” then you continue to say something that is purely racist. you may not be racist to other religions but you certainly are to islam, and why?? you hear about muslims in the news who have commited acts of terror and you judge a whole religion?!! If people were to look at England what would they say… “your all drunkards”?! do you think my statement is fair??
in terms of islams decline, even after 9/11 and 7/7 it is still the worlds largest growing religion. whereas christianity has been on massive decline for the past few decades, there are less people going to church then ever now.
so rethink your arguements and dont be so quick to judge.

I keep getting “comments” from someone variously named S. Houghton, SlimShady, Nathan and other pseudonyms, all with the same IP address, that are not actually comments so much as efforts to use this blog as a platform to promote islam and attack me.
One of the latest insisted that he was living in London. Actually they have all been sent from Africa, so let me explain about IP. It means Internet Protocol and is the number or one of a group of numbers assigned to your ISP, your Internet Service Provider. It is attached to every message you send over the Internet and identifies WHERE YOU SENT IT FROM. All I have to do is bring up your comment in Edit and click on your IP address to see all the details of your location.
Different phony hotmail addresses are proof of nothing but this ignorant muslim can’t seem to figure that out, so I have explained it here. He probably still won’t get it.
There will be no more postings from this person as they’ve been assigned to the SPAM list. If they get past it, they’ll be deleted like the others. The last one, by the way, was the usual crap calling Israel and the United States the terrorists.

I just stumbled upon this blog (and a number of other “anti-Muslim” blogs) tonight. I am a relatively modern/liberal (whatever you would like to call it) Muslim living in America. I was born in washington, d.c. and have lived all of my life in northern virginia…therefore keeping many of my childhood/high school/college friends…many of the people that knew me before the world changed and became one with the realities we face today. I am happy to say that I realized I may be a bit naive and have never heard anything so anti-islamic ….

Of course all muslims aren’t the same. Just almost all. There are several kinds of muslims. Those who leave islam for Christianity or some other faith, those who are willing to blow themselves up, those who teach others to blow themselves up, those who approve of others blowing themselves up and those who are stuck with being muslims but would prefer to not be bothered by it. This latter call themselves “secular”.
Secular muslims are like you claim to be but are really not. You approve of the misery other muslims are causing all over the world in the name of their mythical evil god. I know you do because you never mentioned how you have spoken out against it. That’s because you haven’t, have you? You want to see islam dominate the world. You could care less how the rest of us feel about it because we’re the “infidels”, the non-believers whose necks should be smited.
If you have read the koran, you have read where Mohammad speaks of cutting off hands and feet of victims. Where he promotes the killing of non-believers. Where he said he was victorious through terror. You have read about Ayesha, a poor little girl he married and raped when she was only 9 years old and still playing with dolls. You have read that she was his favorite wife, he liked to take baths with her, her little friends were afraid of him (can you guess why?)
Mohammad was a baby-raper, a pedophile, a terrorist, a murderer who was solely responsible for creating this “religion” he called islam, that he modified and expanded on whenever he needed an excuse for his depraved behavior. This is undisputable, historic fact that is verified in your own so-called “sacred” writings.
Islam is a religion of war. Muslims have repeatedly tried to conquer the world since the 7th Century and are trying again now. Islam is fascism worse than even the Nazis, who enlisted the aid of islamics to help kill Jews.
What I see on the news is not the “psychotic exception”, it is the psychotic norm. Islam is psychotic. Muslims become psychotic. Islam is evil.
Yes, there are lots of muslims who don’t want to live under sharia law, who grew up in the West and appreciate the freedom compared to hellholes like Saudi Arabia, Iran, Iraq. Do you see any of them standing up against the militant muslims? Do you? How many? Name a few. Then tell me again about your nice muslim family. Tell me what good, patriotic Americans you and your nice muslim family are and how you stand up for America and speak out against the terrorists.
Like Hell you do. Maybe you are as naive as you say. I’m not. I’ve probably studied islam more than you have and islam has within it all the makings of unending war. It glorifies death and is the only religion on Earth to do so. Only islam promises men 72 young virgins and 27 pretty young boys to have sex with if they die killing infidels.
